• Re: How to open a Beogram 4002 / 4004 / 6000

A shot with the subplatter removed as well. Quick ID: much smaller motor, only one large grey capacitor instead of the four in an AC drive version. The construction is actually tidier in these later versions, with connectors between the main PCB and the rest of the circuitry.

For completeness, here are pictures of a later version Beogram with a DC drive motor (this time Beogram 4004 type 5525, but a 4002 or a 6000(?) could look like this as well). The platter itself is lighter, but the subplatter is much larger and the drive belt runs on it. Therefore you can't / won't need to use the wrapping trick shown earlier

  • Re: Travelling with a beogram 4000

Yes, definitely remove the cartridge as the first thing if you are going to transport the Beogram, or if you need to remove it at some point anyway. The emphasis in my instructions was just on how to disassemble & assemble for maintenance. But as I said later in that thread, the carts can sit very tight on the tonearm, and needless removal might

    Shouldn't be any different from 4002/4004/6000 .

  • Re: Perspective MC120.2's sound
After a few hours listening to this dreadful sound from the MC120.2, the sound seems to have improved a bit somehow. I think the dielectric in those electrolytic capacitors is the problem. The caps seem to "reform" somehow while electricity passes through them... is that possible?
This can certainly

  • Re: New Ebay user agreement

This simply cannot work. Now a buyer & a seller team up, have something "of value" shipped, get it damaged in shipping (the easy part) and split the refund they get from the shipping company.

  • Re: Can AppleTV connect to non HD Beovsion 5

I don't have any of this stuff so I could recommend anything or confirm if a particular solution works, but the converters definitely need not be that expensive if you settle with something proudly made in China ... (just like everything like this nowadays is in any case)

  • Re: MCL2A to headphones instead of speakers - ?

The speaker protection switch - or at least the markings on it - is pretty much meaningless in this context. But, I'd probably put it in the lowest setting to avoid too much volume in the headphones... if the protection trips annoyingly early, then just turn it up some.
What about backwards compatibility w/ the old two-way systems?
Not that silly an idea actually - it could quite well receive and display the old style IR status messages if some piece of kit happened to be around transmitting them. But no, I don't believe a bit that it would actually do that - we'll
How do I reset them? They are already pushed! Jacques
Play louder so they pop out! No really, I don't think you can work or clean them without opening the speaker (which isn't actually that big a job). I suspect the muddy treble would benefit greatly from a recap.
