Good luck Terry, I'm pretty confident that earthing is your problem. Simply jam a bared end of a wire between the metal top plate of the beogram & chassis and do something similar with the beomaster and see the result. If it solves the humming then that's your problem a more permanent fix can be done. Chris.

Like Craig, we also had "ghost cats" turning on my Beocenter 8500 at all ungodly hours. Took me ages to find out what was going on! Got one of them back though. Hi Johnbee & welcome to beoworld. Very common with these and normally just ceased up due to old dry lubrication. There are a fair few threads covering this THIS being one with a very good photo to compliment it. Chris.

Hi John, is your PSTN compatible with your MK1 handsets? There are 2 versions for the MK2 THIS & THIS , the MK1 handsets use the brushed aluminium combined pyramid base/charger. Chris.

Have you checked that they are not already registered to another base? If so you may have to remove them using the handset menus before registering them to your existing base. Chris.
