There's a lithium cell (battery) inside the processor casing that holds the info in the memory. It's soldered in and the module must be handled in anti-static environment. Best replaced by a trained tech guy but shouldn't be an expensive repair. Martin

Welcome to Beoworld ! It displays a question mark because it cannot read the CD. Probable causes are aging capacitors, cracked solder joints and those dreadful rivet vias. Worth having repaired. Martin

Welcome to Beoworld ! The user manual is available for download for silver and gold members. Well worth the small membership fee. Martin

I don't remember the circuit that well so I don't remember if the switch has ground connection at the center contact but the metal actuator arm would surely short the switch to ground now that the plastic blob isn't there to insulate. That could also have caused some distress. Martin

The design of the Beomaster 4000 and 4400 makes them look strongly related on the outside but they have practically nothing in common inside. Circuitwise, the Beomaster 4000 is a larger 3000 where the 4400 has more in common with the later 6000. Martin

I am not sure which film caps you are referring to. The rectifier in the corner for the 15V supply is a known troublemaker. Slightly under-dimensioned and generally of a bad construction. Sometimes coming apart physically when touched. I like to replace it on sight. If the tuner itself is in good shape, it has excellent stability and will only drift

Matt, welcome to Beoworld ! The Beocenters 7000, 7002, 7007 and 7700 all came with remote control. The 7700 even had two-way remote. The price sounds fair and the tapedeck will need new belts (available as a set). It's a wonderful machine, great quality in all components. Martin
