He is very reasonable but don't glue anything - he will rather have it untouched.
Does anyone know what the upgrades to the BL5's were? I was under the impression that nothing had changed since introduction.
Mainly software changes but some other changes related to the digital connections. Not at home at present but can itemise if needed. As with all B&O products, if a fault or possible

Agree - you must check the continuity before any glue! Tim Jarman is in Farnborough and is good with these decks - you can contact him via Beocentral. He would rather see these before repair!

It means that though the project is being worked on, there is not a sign off date yet so we cannot be more definite. On the updates, B&O have a policy of constant updates throughout the life of a product. The Beolab 5 has been updated a couple of times already but has not needed any large changes.

I don't think he did? He did repair one of the cantilevers by putting a fine wire up the cantilever of a MMC5 and glueing it - seemed quite a lot of work for a MMC5 to be honest! You cannot really get at the suspension otherwise as the Micro-Cross needs to come out. Anthony had some personal problems I believe and stopped working some years ago

I nearly forgot to say - one of the other editors, Adam Smith, is also a member of this forum and has a fair B&O collection himself - this months edition mentions the Beomaster 2400. There is also a picture of the Beocord 2000 Reel to Reel in the letters page with a most attractive young lady behind it!

Hi-Fi World regularly review B&O - Tim Jarman is now a writer for them. One of the issues is that B&O do not release as much kit as most manufacturers, being happy to keep updating products rather than changing the design every 6 months. There is also unlikely to be many group tests as not many companies do direct competitors. The Beolink system

Agree with that - the video processing on the BV5 is the archaic bit really. I don't see why you couldn't feed the pre-amp out to the Avant power amplifiers though. Need a bit of working out the connections but you sound well up to this!
