Very probably foam rot on the woofer/s I am told that these particular woofers are difficult for the novice to repair but there are commercial re-cone specialist who will do the work. They are a magnificent (my opinion!) speaker when working to spec.

Could be dusty laser lens but more likely the first signs that the CD mechanism has seen better days. Expensive to fix with parts £150 plus labour!

IT's anodised and polished aluminium, that I do know because of the sheer number of marked ones that I've peeled off!! What a b*lls aching job it is too. I estimate the thickness to be 0.5mm or maybe slightly less. I have no means of measuring it accurately.

Make sure that both are in STBY Yes, the red dot and LIST at the same time. Then LIST until the display reads Options? Press GO Then LIST until the display reads V Opt Press 2 Then LIST until the display reads A Opt Press 0 Then press TV or CD as required. If you press CD then the CD should start and the sound will come from the Avant speakers. Hope

PhilLondon: You need to set to options on each device. I am guessing you have no external speaker. You should set the TV to Option 2 and the Ouverture to Option 0. Put everything into stanby. On the Beo4, press the red dot and menu at the same time. Then with the list button go to option setting and say Go. Go to V.OPTION and type 2. A LED on the TV

PhilLondon: No the Ouverture is Masterlink, the MX is Datalink. You need a converter. So does the Ouverture not have Datalink then?
-
You should also be able to join the Ouverture and the MX7000 together with an Aux link cable?
-
But you do need the converter for the MX7000 Phil!
