Don't know yet Cleve but If I'd known you were that interested......
Never mind - it was part of my long-term plan to convert fully my partner's son to B&O. He'd read Tim Jarman on the BC3500 in 'Hi Fi World' and had fallen in love with it. I recently found one on ebay (collecting it
John, Yes. Change of plan forces sale. I had in my mind to build a room with retro cool 70's B&O but then reality hit & I knew they'd just sit in the attic for the next 10 years until I got round to them so thought they'd better go to someone who'll appreciate them more. So, did one of us get them

I like all of these but the Beomaster 8000 was not a long lived product and lacked the design purity of the BG4000. Materials used proved not as long lasting. The 4400 design was an adaptation of the Beolab 5000/ Beomaster 3000 theme so not original - it should really have had a new
Here the Beolab/Beomaster units really come into their own.
And between the BM and the BL is a Michel Transciptors Hydraulic Reference turntable that looks even more futuristic and its successors are still in production today - a stunning turntable.
Ah! I wonder if my MC120.2s would sit on the plinth without a gap? Might have to get the tape measure out tonight
John, The top plates are too big for your 120's - I checked! Are you bidding anyway? Cleve
The only other thing is that it actually ran pretty cool when I had it. I wonder if a variable resistor is going - is one side hotter than the other?
Peter, Thanks for the response. It runs equally warm/hot across the whole width/length of the heatsink. I was planning to give the 8000 a break for a few months

My Beomaster 8000 has recently started to get intermittemtly noisy in one channel. It usually starts after the amp has well and truly warmed up (well, the heatsinks run pretty hot). It's the same on all inputs - phono, tape, CD and radio. The noise sounds a bit like a poor connection and the signal will sometimes drop out completely. I've swapped

I saw that as well - has he got confused with Hong Kong Dollars? Cleve

There is really no rationale to the cost of buying B&O on ebay. I waited over 12 months to find a pair of stands for my S45.2s and ended up paying 30GBP or thereabouts. Half an hour ago, a Beocenter 3500 and a pair of S45.2s with stands goes for 40GBP. And it all looks in pretty good condition, even the stylus is supposed to be OK. Strange world
