Any Dealer - whether franchised or not - who has taken the time to perform a home-demo should be treated even-handedly IMHO. I can imagine any Dealer being peeved to waste time when - unless notified of the situation beforehand - the potential customer was always going to source the goods elsewhere. I have experienced this recently with a lower quality HDMI cable. Especially over longer runs 5m+. Using a high quality QED cable appears to get rid of the red dots. And no I don't work for QED!

I have the standard B&O Beolink eye box and it works well. I see no reason in trying a DIY solution but it must be fairly straightforwards.
