Mika, Thanks for your reply. I'm going to try things out. The shut-down is completely random, and happens maybe only one a week (with frequent use /changing of channels!).

Depends on what you call "very recent": produced since 2006 (or maybe 2007). 3-party brands may seem more advanced / bigger storage. I don't need the looks of the HDR2; it will be hidden...

I think it's discussed before, but couldn't find where.... I have the most recent SW for my BV7-40 MK III. The problem that the BV7 shuts itself down is gone. BUT once in a while my STB (Samsung DCB-H360R), connected by scart+RGB, shuts itself off. Known problem / any solutions ? (or wait for another SW-update / buy a MK IV )

Does anyone think there will be a HDR3? Because BS5 isn't a "replacement/upgrade" for the current HDR2. Or should you suggest I hook-up a 3-party recorder to my BV7-40 MK3 (but what about comfort of use; can I control all functions with a beo4/5)?
