Actually Andy it is to do with voltage and that is why they changed the shape of the charging pins but the issue is not with old handsets on new chargers but the other way round. So, pairing an old handset with a new charger is no problem at all.

Are you pressing the button on the Earset 2 'IN' or just flicking it up or down? it can be a little akward to get used to, mine works perfectly.

Well illustrated Keith, so I would say that in this case (although we are still unsure exactly what the problem with the phone is) it is the dealer making this an uneconomical repair and not B&O.

You're absolutely right and in that case a new PCB should be about £60-£70, so clearly economical to repair.

fbaker: I bought a BeoCom 6000 Cordless DECT Telephone in 2002. I think the point is being missed here, this is not a question of the suitability of BL4's as rear speakers but can BL 4 PC's be used with a 7 40 in a DSS set up. You all make very good points about the financial commitment that a franchisee makes in order to own their own B&O dealership, I too have looked at it, investment is high, margins are low and the luxury market is a small one in real terms. I am sure that your local dealer would be delighted if you took all those points in to consideration the next

It sounds for all the world like it is in PIN code lock, but you have already said that you have left it in standby for more than 3 hours and therefore it should have reset itself by now. Is there any thing apart from the screen connected to it?

If you have not got the pin code and cant get it then sadly your probably out of luck, but why you cannot get the BS2 to switch on is a puzzle. Which LED are you referring to that goes orange then red?
