I'd invest in a decent grinder and a good machine if I were you Jeff. The pod machines don't let you fine-tune the grind etc., so are pretty poor in terms of what you actually end up with in the cup. If you can devote the time to master using one, I'd still recommend a La Pavoni Europiccola. I serviced my 15 year old unit a year or so ago

Just bought one in white off eBay. As it's my first r2r, I don't have any tapes to test if it's working. Does anyone have an old spare that I can borrow to test it out? I'd cover postage costs etc. John

Depends on whether you subscribe to the 'bird in the hand is worth two in the bush' theory! I'd be inclined to sack him and sell locally, then as soon as you have got shut of it, cancel the transaction. It's not as if eBay or PayPal offer you any protection as a seller nowadays, so having a transaction outside of one of their auctions
