Well, I did it again I bought a couple of cartridges from eBay, this time my luck changed though! I've got an outstanding MMC4000 from the excellent seller Roxieanum. Then, also from Roxieanum, a mint and absolutely stunning MMC20CL . My goodness, I couldn't believe my ears, this cartridge with my Beogram 4004 and Beomaster 4400 is simply delicious

If your living room or wherever you intend to put the TV set has got strong front light, got for the BV7 as LCD handles this better than plasma. I've seen it with my dealer, their BV9 doesn't perform as well as the LCD in the same front-light conditions.

I picked up my copy last weekend but haven't got a chance to browse it until yesterday. I really enjoyed the article on the outstanding job from Frede Kristensen to bring the Cult Beolab 5000 System from the 60's back to its former glory. He really deserves all recognition! I didn't know that was the policy. I don't expect it to come cheap though. Probably on the 400€ ballpark figure..

You need the original Dolby Surround module, that comes as an option in the BV3-32 and as standard in all BV Avants. You need the one with 5 powerlinks as I believe the older one with 4 powerlinks will not work in BV3's. If you wait until I get home this afternnon european time I can give you the part number. I'm not sure you can still get it

Thanks Friedmett; I remember having read your story somewhere in the forum but couldn't recall exactly what happened. I'm writing a note to Soundsmith asking for details on the shipping. I'll ask them to send them without tax clearance to avoid the hassle you mention. Once I get them I'll try to paint them silver the way Peter did. Regards;

timhanna: I just got a BV7 32, but its currently a large paperweight with the TV's chassis needing replacement, even though its a week old, bought Brand New!!!!! Anyway, I didnt realise but the 40 is the only version that has HDMI, for me this is important, as opposed to the larger screen because the 32 looks great and proportional in my house.

ben12345: If you have a dead channel, then as far as I am aware, the cartridge is scrap. And I also don't think Soundsmith retip B&O cartridges anymore, unless special arrangements have been made with them. There is a company in Germany who offer a retipping service for B&O and other cartridges, but the name escapes me at the moment. Thanks
