I have no experience of the Beolab 5 so I don't know what the real cause for your problem is, but since the comparison between movie sound and cd sound was made I'd like to remind you all of the fact that movies and music cds are mastered differently - dvds in general aren't as heavily compressed as music cds, they often have a more dynamic

I also rated it four stars :-) I normally don't rate threads, but I made an exception to compensate for Andy's mistake, haha. And yes, the post was worthy of the four star rating, interesting read!

Ooh, the WM-DC2! I really wanted one o those, but I went for the WM-F5 instead. I actually tried mine last summer, and it still worked fine even though it's been unused since 1992. I've still got all the packaging etc somewhere...

I've never used the beo4 version of the mx, but if the configuration menu has the same options as in the older mx7000 you can set the av2 as "v.tape2" and thn use shift+v.tape on the bl1000.

As long as it allows me to use the av9000 in the same way as I use my LX (ie routing the tv sound to the bs7000's passive speakers via "av" + "tv"), I'm satisfied :-) Neil, how much is your 1610?
-
Yes - will work. I used AV - TV ( or -SAT. -V.TAPE. V.AUX...) to get stereo sound in video linkrooms with MX4000s. If I remember correctly, the 1610 converter only works with the older, 2way AV9000. Stefan
Ah, thank you! My plan is to get an old 2-way AV9000 (and a 1610, of course), but I wanted to check first
I also have a 1610 convertor for sale. Neil
If I connect an AV9000 (the tv, not the Master Panel) to a Beosystem 7000 (with passive speakers) via a 1610, will I be able to route the TV sound to the beomaster by pressing "av" + "tv" At present, I have a bs7000 with passive speakers and an LX4500

Configure the scart to be "v-tape", select "v-tape" and then press shift + 9 to activate the s-video input (use the scart for sound).

I suppose it's really easy if you are used to soldering, but I'm not. :) I let a repair shop fix it for me, it didn't cost much.
