Try glass cleaner (I like Mr Muscle) and a microfibre cloth. It always works for me. Some members here recommend applying a coat of baby oil after cleaning to give a good sheen. I have never tried this, though I can imagine it gives good results.

Of all the systems you list, the amp in the Beomaster 5000 is the best if you want to drive passive speakers. It is also perhaps the best built, though maybe the 4500 system is the most attractive IMO.

demonell: Rolex is so chav. Patek any day. Not sure I agree. I looked long and hard at a minty 1970s Explorer II with the orange GMT hand at an unbelievably low price (before I bought my 70s Trans-ocean), and that is not a chavvy watch by any stretch of the imagination.

I recently had a problem with my CD50 tray, in that when I replaced the tray drive belt, I inadvertantly messed up the alignment of one of the cams in the mechanism that tells the CD mechanism when the tray is closed. Sounds like you might have a problem in a similar area, but I expect Martin (Dillen) will be able to advise further.

Just a quick endorsement of QED cabling. I've been using some QED micro cable to connect my Beomaster 8000 and Beovox Pentas, and have been very pleased with the results. Sounds really good and the cable is really thin and hides perfectly under my skirting boards. If you want a decent thin cable that can be installed discretely, then I would recommend

Really interesting Chris. I thought this was a terminal problem, and the only solution was a donor hinge from a scrapped unit. You're clearly the man to call if my CDX's hinge ever packs up!
