Maybe its the LED backlight ? The 10-40 is lit from all 4 sides/edges as I understand it, whereas the 10-46 is only lit from two of the edges/sides Therefore half the consumption in that area ?

just a thought ... ask your B&O store to lend you their IR limiter for the Beo4 See how you go ... if it is too cumbersome ask them to take it all back Another thought ... have you tried just using the physical volume controls (^ and v) on the wireless IR eye ?
