I must confess to always using a Beolink 1000 as I never had much success with a Beo4! The Beosound 9000 must be in STDBY and if you have no speakers connected you must select Option 1. Check by using one P/L cable and one speaker only. Switch the speaker from left to right channel. Sound from both channels? Now swap either the speaker or the cable and repeat. Carry on until you have checked everything and we can eliminate cables and speakers. Next I would suspect some sort of M/L problem and suggest that you unplug from the mains
