I am fairly positive that I have used SHIFT 90258 on all versions. I don't know any other way of engaging "Test mode" so I must have. I must confess to always using a Beolink 1000 as I never had much success with a Beo4! The Beosound 9000 must be in STDBY and if you have no speakers connected you must select Option 1. Check by using one P/L cable and one speaker only. Switch the speaker from left to right channel. Sound from both channels? Now swap either the speaker or the cable and repeat. Carry on until you have checked everything and we can eliminate cables and speakers. Next I would suspect some sort of M/L problem and suggest that you unplug from the mains

Certainly can. You could also use ML/MCL converter or BeolinkPassive or MCL2P with ANY of the upright music centres! Simply connect the two devices with a fully wired (Mk2) powerlink cable, connect you passive speakers and away you go.
