The first thing that struck me was the exterior condition of this radio. It looks absolutely new ! This is very rare to see for a 70+ years old radio. It has one scratch on the cabinets left side, looks a recent mark and it was mentioned in the auction listing but apart from that it is unbelievably beautiful. Not a single mark anywhere. No fingerwear

So you do ! I never noticed that. Martin

I noticed a little beauty up for sale at a local auction recently; A Bang & Olufsen Master 39K in what seemed to be perfect condition. The thought of bidding on it soon occured to me but I somehow managed to resist the temptation. Gulp. The plug should be a female. This is an original cable: The part of the housing that plugs into the socket on the Beocord is square with rounded corners and apprx. 21mm x 12mm The pins are flat and apprx 5mm wide and placed apprx 10mm apart (center to center). Maybe a Beoworld member can recognize it ? Martin

There were some japanese receivers that used the same power plug. I don't remember exactly if it was Technics, Panasonic or JVC. 1980's or late 1970's, I think. I believe it was a standard mains plug somewhere in the world. Something like the one on the lower left here: http://www.asia.ru/images/target/photo/50381359/Power_Cord_With_Plug

I'm not sure if they would be able to help you, you could ask them, but my guess is that their quote for merely checking it out would make the postage costs look attractive. Martin

Wonderful radio ! How is AM reception ? If it's weak too, I wouldn't be surprised if one of the AF transistors were short. That's quite common. Three different knobs are used for the bass/treble/balance and tuning; - Volume has knurled grip and index point - Bass and treble has index point but smooth sides - Tuning has the knurled grip but

Jeg har aldrig haft en Beolab 4000 i hænderne men de fleste B&O apparater har en etiket på bagsiden, nedenunder eller bag en låge, hvorpå type- og serienummer står. Martin
