I bought 2 belts from an E bay supplyer for my BG 5000, too short, they pulled the whole platter totally out of vertical addjustment, so now I only buy from Martin, until now for BG 2400, BG 6500, Perfect bands, the BG 5000 runs OK with the old one until my next Martin order.

Here is a pic of mine, with the age of your unit its recommendable to change all electrolytic caps and check and maybe change some trimmers (potis), change rectifier for 15 V circuit, there after addjust 15 V , amp R/L values and lamp balance, and do a troughout cleaning of the whole unit, I did mine with Martins cap and lamp kit, and the difference

The long awaited SMMC4 arrived, tested on BM 2400, BG 2404, S45, against my used MMC4. Result, a little clearer highs and a little more distinctive lows, but not to my ears (old) a big difference, Stereo channel separation better, so my MMC4 is not to bad. Tested with Onkyo amp with BL 8000 and BG 5000, same result. I will recommend the SMMC4, my MMC4

After a long waiting time my Soundsmith SMMC4 should arrive today, UPS was here yesterday, but nobody home. I have a very good sounding MMC 4, a BG 2404 and a BG 5000, I will test on both decks and report back here.

Thats OK with me, but why dont they tell me, if I treat my costumers like this, I could close my business and retire. However, I'm going to wait and see what happens as I need 2 more MMCs.
