In the wake of the Gerald Kaufman MP attempted expense claim of £9k for a Beovision there was a suggestion in the Daily Telegraph that B&O was not really for people who knew anything about TVs (withthe implication that it was more for those with more money than sense!) Putting aside the comparison between new prices and second hand (when B&O

What is the general view on relative sound quality between the various crt/ plasma/ lcd Beovisions? I only have direct experience of the Avant 32 DVD and a recently acquired Beocenter 1. The Avant was originally purchased partly because of its amazing sound quality. The dealer even admitted that there wasn't a great deal to be gained by adding further

Just spotted a QDA auction for an Avant on eBay. Being sold with a new One for All remote! At the bottom of the entry they claim that it's More Than an AV, it's a Lifestyle. They obviously need to sack their PR people because they forgot to mention that a Beo's 4 Life! Vikinguk

Mint. 2005. Inc Beocord 8000. STB and ML. £420. Add to this an overnight ......... but the short break in glorious Galloway was worth the trip on its own! (Anyone interested in a BC1 videostand and/or Beocord?) Vikinguk

Picked up a BC1 at the weekend from a location well off the beaten track in Scotland. Transported it 250 miles face up on blankets in the boot. Came with the most expensive/ least attractive video stand option (which I am replacing with a wall bracket.) Seller had had it disconnected from the mains and we got the 'Wait' message that isn't

Point made! My dealer will do it for £100 or I can get a man and a van with a tail-lift. I would still like to know, however, why the bv1 face down option is such a no-no when the consensus view for CRTs in general (non B&O)seems to be that face down is OK. Is it right to conclude tha the concern is about the vulnerability of the bv1 front
-
Thanks Dave. My local dealer has also suggested off the record that face down might be OK if carefully supported, but went on to say that it should not be tried with the VCR Avant. I may yet use a van and take it upright. Although I have a capcious Saab 95 estate, ther would only be inches to spare to the sides and above whichever way up I carried the

And another thought.......................... Is the B&O concern about not placing BV1s face down more about the risk of damage to the front glass and/or its bonding, or is it something to do with the CRT itself? Vikinguk

As a follow-on to the above I am now considering the possibility of using small mesh cargo netting to suspend the Avant on its back for transport. At least that way the load would be evenly distributed across the whole of the TV back and frame without risk of those sticking-out bits like the DVD player getting knocked. The netting can be tied to a sub

I need to transport a Beocenter 1 this weekend. Looking at the on-line service manual there is a strong warning not to place the TV face down during servicing, but only to place it at an angle lying on its back. I assume that this should be also OK for transport with the stand removed and the TV strapped on its back either on the back seat or on the
