Move that transistor as far away from that little IC as possible, by bending the legs - whatever it takes! Another thing I do is to strip the motor and gearbox assembly- it sounds extreme, but I have had a couple of motors that were completely seized up, maybe due to harsh conditions or lack of use though (Yes I know, I like pulling motors apart hehe

A round light of 3 mm is about right, maybe a little bigger. Looks like it was the camera exposure elongating things a little. Ok you can get into the optics by pulling the plastic insert out- get your finger behind the lens while holding the arm with your other hand and tease the thing out by pulling forward. Watch the wires so don't pull too hard

Is that silly putty? Get the whole lot (minus the electronics lol) in the sink as there will be some scummy stuff that only a mild detergent can remove! The black stuff peels off and I normally sitck to a clean plastic surface and reuse, as there is usually enough sticky to put it back! BTW it would have been easier to unplug the keypad first and work

You done a long shift :) While you have that keypad off it is a good oppertunity to remove all the keys and stick 'em in the sink with some detergent! Also clean all the dust and gunk off round the edges of the buttons it is amazing how nice this keypad can shine after a deep clean :)

That is a postion detector, and tells the beogram where the start point of a 33 / 45 record is. This is not your problem as the beogram is landing on the 33 spot which is why you should ignore this. This ruler, along with the sensor arm is like an AND gate. If both points are 'active' while the arm traverses the record then that marks the point

Have you got a meter? Are you comfortable taking measurements and following a circuit diagram? Could be a loose connection between sensor / detector circuit, the detector circuit itself (dry joints / faulty capacitor etc.), the sensor (a small PV cell) or something else.

I would leave them tbh, it is very unlikely they will be causing any issues which is why Martin won't have sent you replacements. If you want to replace then anything that isn't physically too big will be fine, but why not electros? You were right in replacing all those trimmers in the amp, they would have been ready to cause no end of trouble
