It's a long time since I've set up a BeoCord V8000. From memory I think that you can leave the V8000 connected to the TV and then connect the scart from the Freeview box to the decoder scart socket of the VCR. I seem to have a vague recollection of having to go into the VCR service menu to allow this set up. Sorry I can't be more specific
