  • Re: BeoGram 4000 questions.

Adam, The Beogram 4000’s iconic status is completely well deserved. The 4000 complex, difficult to adjust, and easy to damage? All COMPLETELY true. Also FRAIL in transport, so extraordinary care must be taken when shipping a Beogram 4000. I own a Beogram 1602, 4000, 4002, 4004, 8000, and 8002 and I can tell you without the slightest hesitation

  • Re: Beomaster 2400 smells like electrical fire mixed with oil

Just a quick update. The Beomaster 2400 continued to play without the slightest problem and the odor slowly diminished. As such Martin feels that it was likely dust collecting in a hot area and giving off the nasty smell. Jeff

  • Re: BM4500 US value?

Thank you for making my day…..$5,000 for a BM 4500 and 4500 CD player. Incredible. I paid about $380 on eBay for my Beomaster 4500 which is cosmetically pristine, if not perfect. I initially purchased this 4500 as a temporary replacement for my McIntosh 2255 which went back to the factory for repair. What I found is, while I truly appreciate

Hi Martin, I ignored your previous suggestion about the trimmers not wanting to acknowledge that I have no idea what trimmers are. So since I can no longer hide my ignorance, what are idle current trimmers? Where are they located? What do they look like? And what do I test for? Thus far there are no intermittent faults as the 2400 does everything it

Hi Craig, Well unfortunately my Beomaster 2400 “passed” the smell test, that is to say, under load, the smell diminished. I had fully expected to find a transistor or a capacitor leaking, or possibly smoking, but that was not the case. Everything looked as it should. I noticed that several “components” were warm to the touch

Martin, My thought was to open the 2400 up and see if my nose can lead me to the problem. With such a strong odor I imagine the offending component will make itself known. Just my thought. Jeff

  • Re: Beomaster 8000 "Issues"

After posting this open question, my ever-dependable Beomaster 2400 began giving off an odor of electrical fire mixed with hot oil. There is no distortion in the sound and no problems with any controls…. Just the smell. I am thinking that some transistors or capacitors are in the process of failing. What do you think? Jeff

  • Beomaster 2400 smells like electrical fire mixed with oil

I posted a “general” question on Beomasters in regard to their service needs over time. After posting I noticed a distinct odor coming from my Beomaster 2400, smells like an electrical fire mixed with hot oil. Pungent and nasty . The Beomaster 2400 plays well and all functions work correctly, but I wonder if this isn’t a clear sign

  • Beomaster 8000 "Issues"

I have a “general” question about receivers. There is a Beomaster 8000 currently for sale on eBay whose owner states that it has been “serviced” and “any 8000 which has not be serviced in the last 8 years will give trouble .” Is this true? And if so does the same apply to the “lesser” Beomasters of the

  • Re: Beogram 4000 Update

Hi Duncan, So how are the repairs going on your Beogram 4000? If you have any questions, one amateur to another, please ask. As I have stated I am NOT one of the great experts on this site, but as one who genuinely loves his Beogram 4000 and has learned a great deal about it, I am here if you have questions. Jeff
