I heard about the selling of "empty" BL5s without the drivers and ICE,DSP unit inside.

I have a BC9500 and a pair of BL8K. But not a Bno TV ,now I want to enjoy some surround sound from my dvds. How can I involve my BC9500 in a surround-setup ? What additional hardware is required ? Going to buy next week a pair of BL4000 for the "background".
