Good...it's fun isn't it :), but that's why i made the remark abt having a magnifying glass at hand: i've been 'fooled' by these tv's many times already and rarely anything else brakes down but the solderings. So if you want to play it safe just tap all boards with the tv on and see if the screen doesn't respond to the

Antenna (tip) has been replaced ? Normally this is black on black beolits and silver on silver beolits (not that that explains the serial number...).

Just to clarify: we're talking about the little connection board on the tube neck: 5 coloured leads (black, yellow, orange, red, brown) are connected with a connector on a small pcb on the tube neck. Take the connector out and check for burn marks (sometimes it even melts together with the other side !!) and flip over the connection board on the

Martin, if TR33 is the HT transistor and with the startup you do get the HT (for a short while) that transistor will likely be ok. (i'm at work, don't have the diagram here..). The short is because of a transformer driving the b-e of the HT transistor. Check for bad solderings on C101/102/103 close to the HT transistor, also check for bad connection

In my case i ordered it through a friend's company who get's his parts from Aswo here in NL (wholesale) but any tv repair or parts shop can order there..price includes shipping !!!

The 81xx is the old 50Hz model, with technology quite like the MX and the 83xx is 100Hz. Some things are somewhat similar but component numbers etc are different so the 81xx manual won't be more than a bit of guide to roughly know the setup of any avant... The smps will probably not work standalone but you could load it with a light bulb of about

As i mentioned in postings about the 32" Avant tube replacement i was going to try to find an affordable replacement for the 28" 100Hz Avant. Just now i did the first replacement with a non-B&O supplied tube: the original W66ESF002X44 is replaced by a W66ESF012X44 which seems to work fine. However, this new tube has a manufacturing date

OK, that sounds fine (abt the repair guy) but still leaves the question: if amounts are mentioned: what's being done for that money ? And, again i don't want to talk 'bad' but if someone would come to me with a broken tube Avant 50Hz, i'd never advice him to get if fixed....(regardless of the fine quality of that tv, getting it fixed
