I am trying to mend an MCP5500. I discovered that some aspects of the technical issues have been covered previously after I searched the archives. However I really need to ask some more questions and thus hopefully update the responses from other kind Beoworlders! What is the best way of doing this - a new post or hope that someone will update an original

Is it working completely on the AM bands? Can you direct it with the MCP to go to a fequency above 92 to find a radio station that you know exists eg Classic FM 100.3?? Use GOTO and then 1 0 0 3 on an MCP 5500 - I cannot remember how it works on an MCP 5000 as it is quite a few years since I had one (and even more since I first needed to tune it in

1. Service Manual 2. Try a hair dryer to warm some of the components on the first couple of boards. It is usually capacitors that cause the problems. 3. Be careful 4. Keep the external good parts and buy another TV for next to nothing and make 1 good from 2 bad!

I have come to the conclusion that the connections can be temperamental as my passive (driving a pair of CX100s at the rear) would not switch on yesterday! I wish there was some way of controlling it directly! Brian
