And, most important to us Brits, the £699 price tag, whereas it's priced EUR699 (approx £580) elsewhere through Europe! If I had to choose between the £699 Beolit 12 and the £890 Beosound 8 - with free B&O headphones through Jan - I'd go for the BS8 every time.
One thing I don't understand in B&O PR/marketing depts, is that they stay silent during one month (nothing in the news section since 10/12/11), and then release 4 PR announcements with 3 new products in one day (yesterday)..Are we going to have to wait for another month for the press release about BeoPlay
-
There are a couple of people on this board who are always complaining about the price of the BS8 - they say it needs to be even cheaper. Now, I'm not going to fully disagree I'd like to see it come in at £699, but you are getting a lot of £890. You receive speakers close to BL4000 quality. I barely can fault my BS8, but I can't
Profit profit profit taken from the rich man!
Ironic considering the price of the products, 'eh? Let's just see B&O fail and be done with it! Clearly you understand how to pull B&O out their hole better than B&O.
I totally agree with Dkatz. Bang&Olufsen have lost it! Quality top brands do not fully out source.
Most of the modern luxury clothing brands now manufacture in China. Most consumer electronic developers do, too. There's a reason beyond pricing - it's supply. Apple will demand a certain amount
-
The problem with this "China" issue is more snobbery rather than knowledge of manufacturing. People just assume that only Western manufacturers are somehow pioneers of quality manufacturing. Ironic, considering there was a recent German poll and their view of British manufacturing quality was fairly low - viewerd as manufacturers poor quality
Well I think this is a super little product. Lee and I saw a prototype when in Struer last year and were impressed at the time. I thing it will become available in various colours and I think it is specifically designed to appeal to women. However I can see a place for it in many homes.
Welcome back Peter! "Many"

Tue says " Once people listen to their portable music through the Beolit 12, they will wonder why they ever did it any other way” Sure, if they buy it! $799 is very expensive for a portable device, if you ask me. I can't imagine it selling in big numbers.
-
Why would I want to have a device that amplified lower quality music reproduction. It would certainly annoy me and if I took it outside, would annoy my neighbours!! It must be a generation thing.
Well, considering most modern music is designed for the "headphone generation", is quite compressed
-
Like the new Beolit (prefer the version with the brown handle), love the new website. Only small moan/mention is that I'm getting a bit sick of seeing Tue introduce everything, everywhere! Haven't they got anyone else they can roll out? A Jonny Ive type character or someone else to discuss design or, perhaps, functionality? One question....do
