The Beomedia 1 did use the same Windows XP embedded with Service Pack 2. The latest available has Service Pack 3 and there is a whole new version soon to be released by Microsoft.

The simple answer is NO from a B&O standpoint The long answer is whilst the Beosound 5 has a "Standby" button (top right hand side) that is the same as pressing the standby button on any B&O product or remote.
