  • Re: What is BeoSound 5 needed for?

The issue is not what BeoSound 5 does or doesn't do, but that no one on this thread (save me) has seen it yet. Russ' BeoSound 9000 comparison is dead on. As a product, the 9000 makes virtually no sense when you outline its features in a vacuum. When you see it and touch it and watch it move, however, you realize that you're not dealing with

Two wheels move and there is a toggle between to move the "spotlight." It is connected to the BM5 with power, DVI, & data (like a BeoVision 4). It does not separate from the base. At launch it will be a single head unit solution. For now it works just like any other BeoSound with a remote. You can use it side by side, but it's really

  • Re: Who will be the next David Lewis?

No idea, but I think this is a terribly relevant thread. After all, it was Anders that designed the BeoSound 5, not David. Though it may be wishful thinking, I've thought for a while that Bang & Olufsen could pursue a path similar to Louis Vuitton in that visiting designers could design the smaller accessories, like cell phones, earsets, telephones

What stops it from falling over is a tremendous weight on the foot. This is solid as a rock, even with the screen suspended to the left. It's difficult to pick up, not because the weight is actually that heavy, but because you don't expect it to be that heavy. Think about the base of a BeoLab 8000 for reference. And does it provide an advantage

Ah, the remote. All I'll say is that its likeness to male privates give it a nearly 100% chance of being produced.

Koning et al. In my opinion, the sound quality is really the best kept secret. A few of us on here have had significant "hands on" time, but we've also had some "ears-on" time and I've heard it played through everything from BeoLab 4000s to BeoLab 5s. We did a side by side comparison with the BeoLab 5s for a CD and the same

Just to clear up the questions as this thread moves along, YES. Those are "real" photos. They've obviously been edited in some way, but those are in fact pictures of the BeoSound 5. That is what the head unit looks like. As I've mentioned before, however, they are zoomed in too much to see it rest on its pedestal. It's extraordinarily

The BeoSound 5 will not require a stylus.

Wow. I have to say this is a bit of a tragedy. Had I not seen a few of these in the flesh already I may have been equally anxious to glimpse one, but these pictures are about as unflattering as could be rendered of the sexiest audio master since the 9000 (BeoCenter, that is). I would say that if you are on the fence over the looks after seeing this
