The role as a PC (in the wide sense) speaker is a good point, I don't think anybody has mentioned it before. If they have managed to make it sound reasonably better than a pair of BL4, it might have a future just as that. Difficult to place with that form factor, though...

The ones that I happen to have. I think I last bought cassettes in 1990 or so ...and they were mostly TDK SA-X type II it seems, still have a couple in wrappers. Others that have held up well have been Maxell UD-II, Sony UCX-S and from the cheaper ones, Sony HF-ES. I have plenty of Dolby C recordings done on my JVC KD-D50 from 1982 on, and most of them

Yes, the 5-pin motor is totally incompatible - but it was only used by MX8000 as far as I know (4200 perhaps as well?).

I'm not an expert on link option programming and certainly not these devices, but I think we should first confirm that this is the "double command" problem... Load a CD with more than 11 tracks and get it playing, say, track 3. Now press "1" on your remote. If the BC then skips to track 11, we can go on with this theory. Regarding

Do you have your kit linked together somehow? Sound as if it is getting the IR commands twice, first directly from the remote and then over the link from another device.

It's the option called "signature" under "site options". It's not stored with the posts but is a global option instead, meaning that if you change it, it will change in all your old posts as well. But for the love of sacred things, please keep it compact Not too sure if anybody ever bothers reading those lists anyway...
