Do you use the original sockets or were they soldered on place? When doing the installation, me an my dealer had a similar problem, and we found out that it was a socket that was faulty. To me, it does not sound like there is something wrong with the speaker, it must be either cables or sockets.

I use kitchen paper, with very little water (only a few drops). Polish with it till you see no prints any more.

As you say, you only listen to music with your speaker, adding a second pair is not a very good option IMO. The sound sure will be better at most parts of your living room, but you must not forget that double-stereo somehow kill the sound stage. Double stereo is ok for background music, but not if you actively listen to music. You should consider this
