Hi Cybele and welcome to Beoworld Your beomaster may be set to the wrong option if it has been used as part of a link set up. You need to change it to option 1 by ensuring it is in stanby mode then pressing "sound" then "1" then "store" on your remote. If it has been set to option "0" then it will display the

bayerische: Thanks all, and please keep the valuable info coming! However thank you all sofar, you have helped me a lot! I might have found a pair in need of some repair, and offered the man 50 euros for them, let's see, I think that is fair. 178 euros that the other ones costs feels a bit high to be honest... 50 Euros is more than fair, and 178

Is the platter sitting flat - ie:- at equal height with the top plate all the way round? If not then it may have a "low" point which is causing the scraping noise. There are 3 adjustable suspension points spaced equidistant around the subframe under the platter. Chris.

Peter : Mine are really fine - just given them a good prod - have had plenty of speakers with foam rot so do know what it is like. Not sticky and very flexible. No idea why! I don't know why either Peter, almost every set of CX speakers I've come across have had foam rot. Maybe some sort of witchcraft going on in the North east? Re:- the OP

It is based loosely on the Beosound Ouverture and one of our members actually managed to convert one into a working Audio player but it was really just an exercise in proving it could be done. The work was extremely involved and not actually worth

Easy enough to find out. Just turn the balance fully to either left or right on your amp, if you turn it fully left and the sound more or less disappears then you know they are the wrong way. You won't do any harm if you connect them the wrong way round. Chris.

The best lubricant is silicon grease - don't use any type of motor oil as these will just attract dust and become gooey. White lithium grease should be OK but is susceptible to temperature changes and will harden over time. Chris.

Sorry - I misread your OP and thought it was 6500 system you had. The MCP5500 is identical to the 6500 though and is likely to have a fault with the microswitch under the volume control wheel (possibly just dirty/oxidised). I would advise you buying a Beolink 1000 in any case for daily use as the MCP isn't really very portable and tends to eat batteries
