The sound you are hearing when you switch on your AVANT or any CRT TV is the " Degaussing Coils " around the tube energising for a couple of seconds. Peter, Making Virgin V+ work directly with the Beo5 is very easy because it uses Philips RC5 IR protocol codes, so an XML file can be created with our "Beo5 3rd Party XML Generator"

Whilst I do not know what other USB applications that are running on your PC, the problem you have is certainly linked to USB errors. Peter, The Virgin V+ box is made by the US company Scientific Atlanta Explorer model 8300HD which is also used under the TeleWest name as well. This actual STB is not available in any version of AVANT STB chipset, however as Scientific Atlanta appears to use the same IR codes for all their STB's, you could try the " G Sci Atl DVR " listed

Spiros, Whilst turning off the TV may discharge the static, any dirt is already in place, so this would not resolve your problem in my view. In my view the service team should not need to take the TV away UNLESS the problem is NOT corona discharge because to solve a corona discharge issue all they need to do is spend 5 minutes on a cleaning job.

Claudiu, All Hyundai STB's use standard NEC protocol IR codes and so an XML file can be made for this product without much trouble. The Lintronic codes you listed start 713 meaning NEC. Send me a PM as a reminder, but in the next week I will put one together for you to test.
