    Unplug them all from mains, wait for a couple of minutes, plug back in. Often the power doesn't come back up cleanly, so it may have left the systems in a confused state. If that doesn't help, try reprogramming the video/audio/link options.

    As far as I understand the codecs are Microsoft proprietary, so you can't use them on non-Windows platforms without help (and licensing) from Microsoft. But you don't necessarily have to rerip, you can also convert - foobar2000 for example can convert WMA lossless to almost any other format.

    The circuit board might benefit from an all around clean anyway. It may not be obvious, but if it has received any moisture in the past, it might have leakage currents and/or bad connections that do all kinds of funny things. On the other hand, there's a good chance that your resoldering has fixed that already. If the problem returns, it might be

    "Open" means that anyone can build a client with available published specifications and source code. That is not the case with Spotify. The Squeezebox plugin uses the API and closed source library I mentioned above. The API hasn't evolved much so I suspect the Spotify folks aren't too keen on revealing more info than that.
