Although the BV8 doesn't have a BS3 it still has to upscale an SD or DVD signal in order to display it on the HD panel. Therefore the question becomes "is the PS3 (or other players) upscaler better than the BV8-40's internal one"?

Are you sure they are OLED TV's? This keeps cropping up (no doubt supported by Samsung's marketing department who insist on calling them LED TV's) - my understanding is that these TV's are LCD with LED backlighting. OLED is something quite different (and considerably more expensive at the moment).

I believe it should (not being an owner), as it was the original format of choice for the BM5.

I would go for WMP11. The codecs will be installed at the same time.

There is no audible difference between a wav file and any lossless version (or else they wouldn't be lossless) - it has been proven many times. There is no valid reason to store data in wav format other than aversion to a particular format(s) because of non-musical reasons. I certainly wouldn't constrain the abilities of a new system by forcing

Agree that the 256Kbps files are much better than the DRM 128Kbps files however I'm wary that a 256Kbps compressed file generated from the same source material as a CD can sound better. Everyone needs to make their own choice regarding HD space/quality when building their music library. My view is, as HD space is so cheap these days, doing it as

Are you trying to boot from a previous XP installation on the HD? - this isn't going to work. You should try to boot from an XP CD so that the HD can be reformatted and all the correct hardware and motherboard drivers are installed.

Most Lossless encoders (Apple lossless, WMA lossless etc) will reduce the file size to ~ 56-58%, therefore a 700MB CD will encode to about 400MB.
