Could be the loading basket gear assembly has cracked. It is not an uncommon failure on the VX VCRs. Cracks in the white plastic end pieces cause the cassette to not load or unload straight, and it jams. Part number is 2700011 , description is gearwheel VX3000 / VX5000. The cracked end gears can be easily seen with the loading basket removed. Ideally

My MX7000 sounds a lot better than the MX5500, presumably because of the Active speakers. I've got a Beolab 3500 in the same room as the 7000, and the TV sounds a lot better than the link speaker, it has a better low frequency response. I used to have an LX2800, and guests were often surprised at the quality (and level) of sound that produced.

Just had a look at my stand for you. Center terminal is + (red), outer terminal is - (blue). Hope this helps.

Just a thought.... Two way remotes can get a bit screwy if there is more than one in the same room. If you haven't already done so, take the MCP out of the room with the beomaster and try again.

Keith Saunders: Also making internal calls to another handset is much easier, on the Mark 2 you just press "INT" then turn the dial for the extension you want which is displayed in the screen. On the Mk1 you press the dot button, then turn the wheel. So they're the same in this respect.
