No stupidity here. Back in Beosystem 6500 days, the system was equipped with a coax s/pdif out from the CD-player, marked "for future use." They never used that, as far as I know, until the BeoSound 9000 came along and you could make a connection to a similar port directly to a pair of BL5s (when those were launched.) However, the B&O

I have a setup similar to bayerische's. However, I would strongly recommend a sound-card between your Mac mini and the BL5s, to ensure a properly clocked signal, instead of just a straight conversion. It's not complicated at all. From the Mac mini you run a firewire cable to a unit such as this one: http://www.tcelectronic.com/impacttwin.asp

Wait with buying a centre speaker. I have my BL5s connected to a non-B&O processor, and I have it configured to let the front speakers create a phantom centre. It is phenomenal - the acoustic lenses do have their benefits.

Imagine if the BeoSound 3 had this connection panel. It's from the "comparable" Audio Pro Porto, which came out at the same time as the BS3, but which also came with an iPod dock and a remote control. Sometimes, B&O deselection could be served by some reselection: I suspect the S-Video port is due to Audio Pro's designer having

Too bad B&O doesn't subscribe to the Cerwin Vega "philosophy of sound." There is the possibility that they were set up wrong, and there is also the possibility - a distinct one - that natural bass falls way short of what some people want from their system.

Great news. Please do use this thread to tell us of how you found the Beogram 3000 and the work Frede is doing, if you wish. Great to know that another one has been saved from conversion...

I believe one's expectations of speaker performance needs to be related to their size. I'm quite amazed by what the BL3s are capable of, but have also experienced that they shouldn't be pushed too loud, and one would be waiting for the impossible if one expected pounding bass from them. But they read very true for the kind of music I enjoy

Happy New Years, Frede! I have an acquaintance here in Norway who is considering one in black, as well. I think you'll be hearing from him soon. He is dreaming of something comparable to this:

Are you using them right? B&O consistently fails to mention that acoustic lenses are supposed to have their sound reflected from side walls, relative to the listener. You are supposed to get a direct wave of sound from the speakers, combined with the reflection of the sound from the side walls. The slight delay as well as reduction in SPL of the

Here's a full list. I seem to remember Peter writing he used Mercedes Blue, but his BG3000 also reminds me of a Bugatti in French racing colours. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_international_auto_racing_colors
