Like Mika, I picked up a cheap black-keyed version of the Beomaster 1000 that only needed the dial bulbs replacing. Apart from that it works fine, and I use it in my office at home to listen to the news on Radio 4. It's not my favourite looking receiver, but it performs well and is small enough to be able to be placed virtually anywhere discretely

I have used a Beomaster 8000 and Beovox Pentas as my main system for four years now, and as Peter says, I am extremely happy with it. I used to own a Beomaster 5000 and did try running the Pentas with it, but I was not very impressed compared with the 8000. Quick iPhone shot of my latest addition, a Beocord 1200 reel-to-reel in hard to find white. Am planning to use this with my white Beomaster 2000 (ironing board series) and white CX50s. It works fine, apart from needing a couple of bulbs and a belt for the counter. Was a total eBay bargain of about £40, which goes to show that if you take a punt
