Welcome back jonnyb! Please do continue posting and asking questions. Phillipe's answer is absolutley correct. In fact, B&O has an enterprise license from Microsoft to use a version of Windows XP in the Beosound 5. B&O's support of AAC, MP3, WMA, and WAV are from the Microsoft license. B&O is able to support FLAC because it is open

There is one thing B&O has not learned from Apple. If you are going to have an event to reveal a new strategy and a major change in direction, you have to have a cool product to show everyone. There was no energy here and nothing really exciting. He mostly stated the obvious such as expansion in BRIC countries and the deletion of two products that

Last May, Tue announced a new "product category" will be introduced in August 2011 and now Tue will announce a new "corporate strategy". Why is there a change in message or does it all mean the same thing? It seems certain, there will be a Beosound Air. Beyond that, I have no idea. Maybe I don't seem to understand the idea of
Hi all, I was wondering if any of you has any experience with this: http://www.channld.com/puremusic/ It seems to me that it combines the ease of use of iTunes with our demand for high quality (playback of hi-res music files including FLAC @ 96 KHz, gapless playback, use of the Apple iOS Remote app), all in conjunction

This works with the Beosound 5 using an Airport Express. You could also copy your music from iTunes to Beosound 5 Beomaster 5 which can play all your music with MOTS. There is also another product which is an iPhone dock. http://www.bang-olufsen.com/system-dock

Is is amazing the direction this thread has taken. For awhile in this thread, the discussion was about whether someone liked or disliked Beosound 5 HD. Also some members had reccomendations as to what B&O should have done with Beosound 5 such as touch screen, translucent aluminum, and others. These are all valid things to discuss and I am sure that
My guess is that it would be "better" for two reasons. One that there might be the possibility that it could turn the device on and alter the volume as opposed to simply selecting tracks. The other is (and I'm making an assumption here) that you wouldn't have to use the abismal DAC in the Airport

My BC2 is a MK1 US version. I haven't thought of a price.

Beosound 5 and Beosound 5 Encore use the UPnp/DLNA standard and support iTunes server on several remote file servers such as iomega. It will play any file format except ALAC or Apple lossless. There are many apps available for remote play on the Beosound 5. Airplay is really not needed. However it would be nice to have and maybe it will be added later

Yes, I got to admit, Tue is certainly taking his time!
You are joking right? What did you expect him to do so quickly?
Well not allow any further underdeveloped products to the market would be a start surely?
I don't think
