  • iTunes 10 ATROCIOUS sound quality?!

Just wondering if anybody has noticed just how awful iTunes 10 sounds? I'm running 10.1 and when comparing iTunes playback to the same files in QuickTime Player, the two sound completely different! iTunes almost sounds mono, boomy, and worst of all, it clips! The stereo image is just completely destroyed, and the mids lose all their open-ness. Strangely

  • Re: Electro voice speakers w/ B&O

Having had a quick read-up online, it seems they should come with their own specific EQ. Because of their design type (6th order bandpass), you risk damaging the bass drivers if used without their appropriate EQ unit which stops all sounds below a certain frequency from getting to the bass driver. As far as suitability with the 6000 quad goes, the amp

  • Re: Difference between Center and L/R front for Beolab 4000

Of course moving the speakers would change the sound. For good stereo imaging, you ideally want to be placed at an equal distance from the speakers, with the distance between the two speakers being the same as the distance from you to one of the speakers (an equilateral triangle). Placing the two speakers right next to each other would just completely

  • Re: B&O CD vs mac & DAC

Quite lately I've been finding the differences among DACs rather larger than I expected. I listen on Adam A7s, and find they reveal every flaw in the signal they're fed, including the DAC they're driven with. At the moment, mine are driven from the outputs on the back of an RME Fireface 800 (which sounds excellent), but I don't think

  • Re: Worst Review.. ever ?

Not the first time B&O's products have been inaccurately reviewed by any stretch of the imagination...

  • Re: Beogram 1102 stylus shock: new owner

What is it being plugged into? If you're going straight into a line-input on an amplifier, then it will sound terrible. You need a phono pre-amp (or RIAA amplifier as they're often called), as all record players have a very low-level output with less bass and treble than there should be. The phono pre-amp corrects for this.

  • Re: Beolab 5000 speaker refurbishment/overhaul and sound related question

You could try coupling the wood to the stone behind it, but you'll have to do it in several places, directly behind the speaker, a few feet above and below, and a few feet either side. May make a difference...

  • Re: How to merge 2 videofiles?

QuickTime 7 Pro will do it, just go Edit -> select all on the first video, Edit -> Copy. New File, Edit -> Paste, then do the same with the second video, pasting at the end of the first video. You can re-encode in a different format, or sometimes you can select pass-through depending on your video codecs (the ideal solution, no re-encoding

  • Re: 7-4 question

Beyond the practical challenges posed by doing something like that, you will find the sound of the speaker changes due the difference in the baffle (causing baffle-step, and a drop off of low frequencies when taken out of the BeoVision 9).
