Maybe i'm way off here, but are the batteries of the terminal okay ? Reason i ask is that perhaps the terminal (with low battery power) sends a code similar to "RESET" when you press SOUND or STATUS. Just guessing....

Maybe the type of MCL2AV has something to do with it, is it an Xtra-tv-kit or a Xtra Active Speaker Kit ? (with/without 2-way transceiver) Other possibility is the MCL2P; the PCG keeps mentioning ML/MCL-converter, used as MCL2P. Perhaps this (newer) ML-MCL converter treats things differently from a MCL2P, which is "only" an amplifier.
