Actually I think the wheels are not that intuitive either. I think an interface using the touch sensitive aluminium would have been far more in keeping with B&O technology. By all means make a wheel shape, but make it work by touch alone. And use the patented translucent aluminium technolgy as a feedback medium. I do agree about smudged glass though

Unfortunately, they use different cartridge types. I think I would probably keep the 3400 as I think the 1800, although beautiful, is just too lightweight. The 3400 with a MMC20CL cartridge would take a lot of beating by anything.

The Beomaster and Beolab are well worth having restored - many of us have done just this and Classic Audio, run by Frede, specialises in exactly this. You did however ask what these are worth. In non working order, very little - tens of pounds. A fully restored and certified pair will cost many hundreds. Whether it is worth this is clearly debatable

You need to be a little more specific - there are two types of each Beogram! Beogram 1800: Type 5213 - rare and unusual early turntable with novel lid with enclosed sides - a keeper though I doubt this is the one you have! Takes SP cartridges. Type 5811-5 - First of the last series of radial Beograms. Looks impossibly slim and is very elegant. No Datalink

I suspect the din Cable as well or the connection at the Tape player end. Does it seem to record?

Get a second hand pair of Beolab 4000s - the Mk1s are in my opinion the better speaker anyway and much better than the Beolab 4.

I imagine it is teak. Not seen many of these. Quite an interesting machine though as the first of the three source music centres. Just not very good!

Won't the IR port on the BS8 suffice so you don't need the eye on the Beolink Active?

Pretty sure the tuning covers are identical - certainly I swapped mine about. For the BM4400, you need some good speakers. Surprisingly, S45.2s will work but really you want either S75s or M75/M100 speakers. I run my 4401 with M100s.

My one is the earlier Philips DVD integrated player - it has the mad symbols at the top of the screen in the DVD menu! The Pioneer player has a better menu but I don't think is quite such a good DVD. Not much in it though!
