• Re: Beolab 5000 amplifier loud pop from speakers

It is totally normal, and quite loud. I have a perfectly restored one from Frede, just a few months old now. I confirmed this with Frede. Here is his reply about it: "The ‘start noise’ of the Beolab. YES, this is normal – all Beolab 5000 are designed that way and another point – all amplifiers designed during the 60’s
@Macjonny1 avsforums laugh at anything that wears the name bang & Olufsen
Yes I do know that and I don't take them seriously...but anyway I don't think 33Hz is the proper lower cutoff for a home theater sub...you will miss out on that deep deep base.

I really think those of you who are recommending the BL11 as a home-theater sub are off your rocker. It only goes down to 33hz-WEAK. It's only 200W. Good sub for extra base punch for music but not for home theater. Go ask someone about it on avsforums and they will laugh at you. BL2 is OK but a lot of people report some lag with music. IMHO there

If you are looking for an LCS I have one. Currently on ebay. Pricey but I would give a discount to a fellow Beoworld member.
I think that there's an experience deficit in some of these responses. If things were this easy I would be right there on the bandwagon. I'm not in love with cabling and I'm just as interested in novel new solutions as anyone, but I run a high-end installation company and the expectations attached to

  • Re: Apple's "AirPlay" and B&O

I think B&O is smart not to rush in and adopt this technology. And believe me, this is coming from a big Apple fanboy (check the username). Anyway, Airplay is still in its infancy, and buggy in and right now there's a big problem in my opinion that you can't stream to multiple devices. It may play out to be really great in the future, but

  • Re: Apple's "AirPlay" and B&O

I really don't think B&O should try to integrate Airplay. The tech behind Airplay is nothing new. There are many people that have sync issues and dropouts with Airplay when used to stream to multiple audio sources. It is a low-priced streaming solution. B&O would be much better off working with a company like Sonos or some other high-end

  • Re: beosystem 1 to plasma screen

Not sure about adapters but you may possibly be able to hook the BS1 to a borrowed projector or another monitor with VGA input, just to get the settings done. I have a BS1 and only have the VGA hooked up for menu setup as you are trying to do, but fortunately my TV had a VGA input.
