Assuming your Virgin remote control works perfectly with your Virgin box and you are sure that the STB IR transmitter is correctly placed over the Virgin Boxes IR receiver, then the only assessment can be that the STB controls are not compatible with your STB. As you have the latest chipset in your AVANT and B&O will no longer be providing STB updates

To clarify my previous answer about being able to control the 3rd party product volume with the centre wheel, the simple answer is you CAN, however it is NOT possible to do it with the Beo5 Configuration Tool using RC5 protocol without getting the problems you have discribed. You need the new 1.40a firmware and currently the associated XML file needs

Peter, Did one of us misunderstand his " Problem Statement " you are correct in your statement, but I thought he is talking about leaving the STB on when he switches the TV off.

Frank, I had a closer look at both Pronto codes you sent me and I can see that the first one has the first section missing which defines the carrier frequency and bit size and the second shows the NEC code repeated 4 times except the last part has only half the bitstream, teh rest is missing. From your last captured Pronto code I assembled an XML file

You will need the Beo5 3rd Party XML Generator which can be downloaded if you upgrade to Silver or Gold membership. This program will actually create the required XML and comes with full help.
