But he said that now B&O has found a new coating, also with a soft finish, but more robust.
Nice....so I wonder what happens to the original units? Replaced under warranty? Remember when buying in to B&O, you are happy to pay the premium based on tried-and-tested quality assurance.

I'd say 'go for it'. I think the picture quality is a slight step up from my BV7-40 MKIII - that's more to do with the 100hz screen that seems to improve movement and camera panning. For £3600, it's good value. However, if you live in the UK, get it soon, as this price will rise to £4000 by June 1st!

Guys, you don't need to figure if the BV7-40 is a MKII or MKIII by serial code. It's more simple than that: MKII shipped with one single DVI socket and the MKIII shipped with 4 x HDMI sockets.
-
How do you know that's the MKII? Specs seem the same as before?

I forgot that Faulty Towers: Re-Opened was on GOLD and am now having to watch it on GOLD+1. Bizarrely GOLD+1 has those blue bars that Simon mentioned....but not on the GOLD channel (which is still showing the same programme!). Bizarre. [EDIT] A quick Google search resulted in this: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=1013958 Seems like

I agree, was pleasantly surprised by the picture quality. A slight step up from my BV7-40 MKIII, particularly with fast-moving scenes. The Casino Royale Blu-ray being played was more BV9 than LCD. Warmer colours, more smooth, less 'sharp' looking picture (than my BV7) etc. Only £3600 (before price increase), too!
I have never done the test myself. I go back nd forth on whether I think the sub helps or hurts our 9s.
I originally had a BL2 with the 7.2. Once I moved to a 7.4 and BL9s, there was little need for the BL2. Instead of keeping the sub, I traded it in against other B&O kit. I'm sure it adds 'something'

Simon, it means that the broadcast or the Sky box are at 'fault'. The only reason it's happening is that the widescreen picture is not quite wide enough (and isn't 'letterbox'), which leaves small blue/dark borders around the left/right edges of the screen. For me, I rarely see this as I don't watch the broadcasts or channels
-
I'd agree with you Alex. It was the same on my old BV7-32. You also see those blue borders on Sky's Football First (but only on the match choices) through the red button, on a Saturday evening.
Can't wait to hear from you though about the new set once you have it installed and running. Putting it through your business certainly is a sensible way of upgrading so it does sound like you made a good decision.
Who knows if the upgrade proves to be 'good value' or not. Of course, I did
