The BeoGods have already spoken ...................... it's coming to Punchersvillle!

[quote user="moxxey"] Problem with the BV7-40 MKIII was that it required four key software updates during ownership - to fix three key problems (white flash, crashing TV, HD linkroom issues). That was totally unacceptable, no apologies from B&O, no letter with a gift stating that this situation shouldn't have happened etc etc. Basically

I've run out of juice too! I believe and will leave it at that - as in all of these "audiophile" cases, there can be no end to the debate, the believers cannot offer enough proof to convince those that don't - the ABX double blind test format cannot prove a null result, only that there is a statistically significant difference....

[quote user="mossy666"] [quote user="The Plumber"] When in Exeter B&O a few weeks ago there was a woman working there (i think). If they know their stuff thats OK by me. If we accept that a computer can open a *.zip or *.rar file without any errors and all data contained in that file is as it was before being compressed why do we consider there to be some special "hoodoo" in a compressed audio file that means that "lossless is not lossless" - I find this incredible! There are many tests elsewhere
-
OK - I can't say I'm convinced - if there is a difference it says one codec (likely the aac) isn't truly lossless, I don't think the hardware has any effect. As you say, it will be interesting to retest if/when the BM5 officially supports alac.

[quote user="dkresz"] .......................................This is the bit I was trying to tackle in my previous post BTW. I have this same album, I bought it last month. I have compared it (and many others) against my prior album versions downloaded via iTunes Plus. I have also compared them against AAC lossless (i.e. MPEG-4 Audio Lossless

Surely it's the BV8-40 first prize in the July draw (already mentioned)! Now that's a prize definitely worth winning and a jolly good reason to upgrade to Gold membership. (the BS3000 second prze isn't bad either)
