I think you need to decide on the design you like most. Also you need to work out what you will be using it for the most. If vinyl, then one of the earlier systems would be the best - either an 8000 system or a 4400 system. However if CD is going to be a big part, I would get a 7000 system with active speakers. Also consider the Beocenter 9500 which

I have moved it to the Sales forum rather than the wanted area! Nice system by the way - one of B&O's good amplifiers and the best medium sized speaker. If the cassette is working and it has a cartridge, this is a super vinyl system.

Not too surprised! The MS150 is one of the best speakers that B&O made and the Pentas are not bad either. CX100s are link room speakers and in my view are struggling to be defined as Hi-Fi. They make a pleasant sound - I use a pair regularly - and a Cona does add some of what is missing, but any good pair of speakers will obviously outperform them

If you find your restorer unable to help, let me know. I am sure something can be done and without too much cost. Interesting log in - I confess the very thought of translating the History of the Peloponnesian War still makes me sweat! And that was a long time ago!

Looks like the same finish as the BV10 so should be fine. I dare say a feather duster will deal with errant spiders though geckoes could be more problematic! I dare say turning it on will persuade them to leg it though!

I don't think it is a very good match - it is a standard square deck. The Beogram 3000 tangential deck has a sloping front like the Beogram 9500 and is also far easier to find. Mechanically, these decks are essentially identical.

True but the lack of bass is noticed at levels where we are probably using about 1W so it would appear to be a driver or software issue rather than raw power. As I have said before, it is more the presence region rather than the bass - I have a Beolab 2 for the bass! The BV10 actually sounds a little better as a stand alone in some ways than in speaker

Parts for this are relatively easy to find as this really is a Beomaster 3000 and Beogram 3000 combined. There are a few trim pieces that are unique obviously, but the innards are pretty standard - as can be seen by the fact that the Beogram actually has a flying DIN lead that plugs in the back! Both the Beocenter 3500 and Beomaster 3000 were big sellers

I have a couple of cartridges that Axel has put Shibata styluses on - they are excellent - these are the ones reviewed by Soundproof. He actually has them at present and is reviewing them against a CL that I have sent him as well as a SMMC20CL+. I still prefer the CL but I would probably admit to bias on emotional grounds!! The shibata tipped cartridges

Very unlikely - they arms are very different sizes - I would suggest it would be easier to simply make a new one.
