Hi Heather, are you looking to use all B&O items? If so then the tuner/amp to go for is either the Beomaster 5000 or 5500 . Both of these are very well matched cosmetically (the RX2 will stack directly on top and has the same footprint) and both have inbuilt RIAA so no need to fit an exrternal one. The 5000 has a drop down flap revealing manual

Welcome to Beoworld HERE'S a link on how to set the tracking force on all of these types of Beogram, take note of what cartridge you have fitted as this will affect the weight it needs to be set at. Re :- an RIAA, this all depends on what you are connecting it to. Chris.

Hi Jason, what I SHOULD have in the menu, according to the manual I have, is the AV option, which I can change for whatever device I connect to it, and also a decoder option for the 3rd scart socket - it is this option which doesn't appear so this socket is unusable at present. Thanks for your help with the manual Jason Chris.

Very kind offer John but 'fraid mine isn't an RF version - I don't think dealers are giving those away just yet It isn't a major problem I have but it is like an itch you just can't reach............... Chris.

Just done some digging and according to one source the Beolink passive was based on the MCL 2P so converting the voltage in the transormer should be pretty straight forward judging by the service manual. Having said all of this I'm not sure if the output of the MCL 2P would do penta's the justice they deserve. Chris.

Craig I don't get "connections" in my menu list, I have "source" instead which is supposed the bring up my "AV" and "decoder" settings but only "AV" appears for some strange reason. I don't have the original user manual so I am using the nearest one I could find on Beoworld. Chris.

The service manual for the Beolink passive is on site which also covers "ML/MCL converter etc...." and according to it then it is definately possible to do this. I would imagine it uses the same transformer as the MCL 2P can used for the same application. Chris.

I have a 32" Avant VCR which was very kindly given to me by Kingstreet in Manchester. My problem is that the "decoder" scart socket doesn't appear anywhere in the menu settings. Is it possible it has been deactivated and if so how do I reactivate it? Thanks in advance Chris.

No problem Ed, and thank you for supporting Beoworld with your silver membership it is really appreciated Chris.

Is he seriously asking £200 for this The BC8000 is definately the least specified of these beocenters and what he is in effect selling is a £200 (plus) radio cassette player at present. The amp isn't a particularly good one in these models so the lack of powerlink for active speakers really does make it quite limited. I wouldn't
