Do you have an antenna connected? These beomasters really struggle to find stations with nothing acting as an ariel, even a bent wire coathanger will do the job. Chris.

Hi Bahumbug - sorry if this is a bit of a late reply but after digging around I have found a transformer from a Beogram1800 which may just do the job. It is 240v 50hz with 12V output. I have checked the service manual on site for the Beogram 1700 but it isn't there although there is one for the 2200 & derivatives and these appear to use the

Well I wouldn't pay that much If it has a brand new soundsmith cartridge and is in mint condition then I may just be tempted to pay half of that price - white or not! I think the 8000 compares quite well to the 4002/4 and seems to suffer from just as many foibles due to aging capacitors etc.... The sound is a little lighter which is probably due

Heather, both are very good amps but don't be put off if you find a different manufacturers model which suits your needs & budget. Heaven knows there are plenty out there, some better than B&O & some not as good. Please keep in touch if you need further advice on amp choice & setting up this TT whatever you decide. Interesting but not for me I'm afraid. Call me an old die-hard but I like my phone to make phone calls, my camera to take photo's, my music system to play music etc.. etc... Chris.

There was a problem with the control panels on the early versions of these, I would go back to your dealer telling him it is a known problem and if they are willing to replace it. If it is still under warranty they will do this in any case. Chris.

Tut tut Craig - I think you know what I'm going to say now don't you? You should have asked me first (you normally do ) - I have 4 of THESE doing nothing and they measure exactly 8cms in diameter. Chris.

My first B&O speakers were RL45.2's and the straps simply broke of their own accord having never been touched by me. It must be some sort of fatigue that causes it as they are quite tight when fitted and the constant virbration casued by music must snap them eventually - well that's my theory for what it's worth.
