Thanks for the nice comments guys - here's another angle. I'm very pleased with my living room at the moment, but as we're hoping to move soon, I suppose I'll have to rearrange things once more when we get where we're going! Check out the Jet Present 607 valve set on the shelves - one that needs a 'serviced by Dillen' sticker

Hang on Chris - the OP mentioned that it had just had new belts fitted

I had a conversation with Tim Jarman recently about this, and he felt that the Beocord 5000 was right up there with the 8004 (but surprisingly not the 9000) as the best B&O tape deck. He also felt I was crazy for wanting to replace my Beosystem 5000 with a Beomaster 6000 Quad!

I've used this shot before, but here's part of my living room set-up. If you look closely in the right of the shot, you'll see the base for my RF Avant. There's plenty more B&O in the rest of the room, but that's for another photo!

WHEN YOU QUESTION PRICE OR VALUE FOR MONEY ITS ALWAYS DONT WORRY WE DO CHEAP FINANCE - I WOULD RATHER HAVE A GOOD DEAL WHEN ANALOGUE WAS ONLY AVAILABLE ON BV8 THE SALESMEN SAID DONT WORRY JUST USE SKY PLUS WITH

Just been browsing in a local charity shop that I know sells second-hand hi-fi gear from time to time, and came across a nice pair of the above in teak for £10. I couldn't get the frets off to look beneath, nor could I test them as there wasn't an amp in the shop with some DIN outputs, but was tempted at this price as I thought they'd

I'm not knocking the price of the BV9 Lee (or Alex for working for B&O part-time) - just stating that it's pretty obvious that the BV9 is going to outperform most of the competition, particularly when the competition is defined by what you can afford given your age/budget, hence the Fiesta/GT40 comparison. I imagine Alex can well lust after

Great story Stephen - glad you got this lovely old set sorted :)
