I think the convenience aspect of the later generation of B&O turntables should not be overlooked. The sound quality may not be the best but if I had to stop/start, wipe, lift/ lower, lift/lower and stop just to listen to vinyl then I surely would not bother. I dont think any of them do. At least none of mine ever have! They do switch to wide when watching terrestrial channels on Sky connected by scart.

Sounds like the tweeters are blown. Very common fault usually caused by running too loud. Easily tested by your dealer. Tweeters should have a resistance of a few ohms, faulty ones are either open or closed circuit (I have seen both). You need a MCL2AV including IR transciever with the MCL2P to control the volume.

Quite correct. The Beogram 5500 should be plug in compatible.
