The comments thread to that article was interesting, it appears audiophiles are alive and well. Haven't tried the Red Wine mod. There are a few of these being offered - with the large harddisks on today's iPods it's a good option. There are even those who'll replace the Wolfson DAC in the iPod. Here's a variation, no compromises

Since I don't have a similar setup, I couldn't say either or as it's your experience. But I would be surprised - it's an electronic signal, and there's no significant conversion required, the signals are just being "rerouted" to fit with the scart pins -- and it shouldn't become asynchronous as a consequence of that

You should actually be able to get the same high-definition video resolution with component connections from your STB ... and I don't really understand how there should be a sound/image delay. Component, DVI and HDMI pass through high-definition signals. I'm in the "what's the fuss with HDMI?" camp -- it's worth remembering
